First Day of Winter MLB Meetings

The first day of the winter meetings have begun and they are still pretty much a lot of talk and no action. There have been rumors swirling all day about John Lackey, Jason Bay, and Milton Bradley but the only concrete moves have been regarding a few relievers no one cares about.

Probably the best nugget of the day came from newly elected Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog. He came out and blatantly questioned Mark McGwire and his will to put up with more steroid scrutiny (remember he is not here to talk about the past).

McGwire was not the only topic Herzog touched on in his press conference, he was brutally honest about Matt Holliday and fellow Hall of Fame inductee Doug Harvey (who he really doesn’t like).

I guess the point is…OLD PEOPLE WILL SAY ANYTHING THEY WANT! That’s right and it is GREAT! I love old sports guys who tell stories and couldn’t care less if they were ripping old teammates, (They would say “He’s been dead for years who cares”) or ripping young talent (“I am old what’s he going to do to me”) I love the honesty, PREACH ON WHITEY!
