RIP: Milton Bradley’s media exposure (2000-2009)

Milton Bradley will be shipped to the black hole of ESPN coverage.

It’s official. Milton Bradley’s biggest fan, Milton Bradley, has announced that he has been traded to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Carlos Silva.

Honestly, this benefits Major League Baseball as a whole.  The Cubs get rid of one of the most problematic players in club history and he gets shipped to the biggest media black hole on the face of the planet, Seattle.  This is fantastic news because it means we won’t be hearing from or seeing Milton Bradley for a long time. (Until he calls the Space Needle racist because it’s white.)

What’s even better for baseball fans everywhere (except in Chicago) is that they dumped the potential of a power hitter like Bradley for a pitcher in Silva with this stat line from 2009:

30.1 innings pitched

41 hits

11 walks

1-3 record and……

8.60 era (damn!)

Here’s the kicker. The Cubs will owe him $12.5 million per year for the next 2 years! Nobody, and I mean nobody, throws around money at useless players better than the Cubs do. (Just for comparison: 3-time MVP and all-around bad ass Albert Pujols makes $14.5 million per year.)

Way to trade in a annoying somewhat productive slugger for a quiet dime-a-dozen, injury riddled starting pitcher for equal cash. I love you Chicago Cubs!
